Insider builds of Windows 10 began to receive new icons from Windows 10X

Some applications in the Windows 10 Insider Preview pre-builds received updated icons that were previously introduced in the new Windows 10X OS.

Microsoft began to replace the icons of its applications in the insider builds of Windows 10 with icons with a new design, which were previously introduced in Windows 10X. Updated icons are very different from the set of “flat” icons introduced in Windows 10 in 2015 and look much livelier and more interesting.

At the moment, only a few built-in applications have received new icons: Mail, Calendar, Groove Music, Cinema and TV, Calculator, Alarms and Clocks, Voice Recording. It is expected that in the near future the new icons will receive the Microsoft Store, Camera, Feedback Center and other applications.

We hope that Microsoft will nevertheless update the Windows Explorer icon, despite the fact that this application cannot be updated through the Microsoft Store.

Perhaps the new icons are not the only interface improvements borrowed from the new operating system for folding devices and dual-screen devices. Internal leaks indicate that the company is testing the Windows 10X Start menu on desktop systems. It would be great if Microsoft would open the veil of secrecy and conduct tests at the official level.
